Located on Hongqiao Road in Changning District, Shanghai, the Shanghai Cheng Shifa Art Museum is operated by the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy and dedicated to the legacy of renowned Chinese artist Cheng Shifa. As a national-level art institution, the museum places exceptionally high demands on architectural design, material selection, and environmental performance.
For this project, decorative surface materials were required to support fast installation, excellent indoor air quality, and no odor or pollution, while maintaining a strong artistic expression aligned with the museu’s cultural identity. After careful evaluation, the design team selected REXIN A-Class Non-Combustible High-Pressure Resin Panels (TAIKA), recognizing both the brand’s strong reputation among designers and the produc’s proven quality and construction efficiency.
The interior design continues the traditional black-and-white aesthetic of Chinese ink art. For the ceilings, the TAIKA wood-grain series was applied, offering a warm and natural texture while meeting strict performance requirements. The panels feature A-class non-combustibility, E0 ultra-low formaldehyde emission, water and moisture resistance, and excellent heat and dry resistance. Accents of red are introduced in selected areas to add warmth and emotional depth to the gallery spaces.
To further ensure safety, environmental protection, and ease of installation, the designers adopted the TAIKA solid-color quick-install wall system. The interior palette combines white and brown tones, creating bright, open spaces, while geometric lines subtly interact with light and shadow, enhancing spatial rhythm and visual depth throughout the museum.
